Nature-Based Therapy Grounded in Safety, Insight and Individual Care

The Outdoor Social Worker offers personalised, trauma-informed therapy in a unique setting: a 20-acre private nature sanctuary in Tasmania’s Southern Midlands.

Here, counseling is not confined to four walls

It moves with your child — through the trees, along quiet trails, or within the calm of a cozy glamping tent.

This is professional care designed for young people who haven’t found what they need in traditional therapy. Whether you’re a parent or a child or teen trying to carry life’s weight, every session is shaped around your child’s pace, their story, and what truly matters to them.

Every session is private.

Every plan is made for your child in mind.

Every part of this is made to feel safe, clear, and real.

What I Help With

I work with kids, teens, and parents who often feel overwhelmed—by noise, crowds, or everyday stress. For children and teens, making friends can be tough, and sometimes it’s hard to put feelings into words.

Worries about school or new situations might feel heavy, and stress can show up as headaches, stomach aches, or sleepless nights. Setbacks or criticism may leave your child feeling stuck, shut down, or misunderstood.

If you’re not sure where to begin, that’s okay. This is a place where your child—and you—can show up just as you are. There’s no need for perfect answers or polished stories. Just being here is enough.

I also offer parents 1:1 consultation to explore parenting strategies that can help heal fractured relationships and bring more happiness into your family life.

Counseling Services

All services include a post-session case notes, and ongoing communication and scheduling support.

How the Process Works

  • A relaxed, no-pressure chat to see if we’re the right fit before beginning your journey.

  • All new clients begin with a 90-minute intake session. We’ll meet in the glamping tent or via Zoom, explore your story and create a roadmap for future sessions.

  • After the intake session, I provide a clear, professional treatment plan outlining goals, therapeutic approaches and next steps.

  •  Clients typically attend fortnightly or monthly, depending on need. Each session builds on the last, with continuity, care and real progress.

What Makes This Therapy Different

More than just talking: We use movement, time in nature, play and the therapeutic relationship to help kids feel happier and lighter.

  • A calm, private space: This isn’t a cold office or a busy waiting room. It’s a quiet, safe spot surrounded by nature where your child can feel nurtured and safe.

  • Built around your child: There’s no one-size-fits-all here. Each session is shaped by what your child needs and who they are, with respect for their pace and personality.

  • Gentle, trauma-aware support: Whether your child is healing from tough experiences or just dealing with everyday stress, the care is gentle and mindful of boundaries, always honoring them and their experience.

  • Helping families, too: I also work one-on-one with parents to find ways to repair relationships and bring more ease and happiness into family life.

Who This Is Not For

This practice may not be the right fit if:

  • You are seeking Medicare-rebated or crisis counselling

  • You need highly medicalised or diagnostic mental health care

  • You are not open to being outdoors or working at a slower, reflective pace

  • You are only seeking surface level coping strategies who are not prepared to delve deep into themselves

I’m happy to refer you elsewhere if your needs are outside the scope of this practice.
